Carry On Bag Size Limit
Your carry-on bag can be up to 21.5 x 15.7 x 10 inches (55 x 40 x 25 centimeters) in size. It should be able to fit in the overhead bins or under the seat in front of you.
Hot Tip: If there is no free space available in the overhead bins, you may have to check your carry-on bag at the gate.
To prepare for such an event, pack all your important documents, valuables, fragile items, and medications in your personal item. By doing this, you can prevent any last-minute rush to repack.

Personal Item Size Limit
AeroMexico doesn’t specify an explicit size limit for personal items. However, it should be able to fit under the seat in front of you.
Many airlines use 18 x 14 x 8 inches (45 x 35 x 20 centimeters) as a size limit for personal items. You can use this as a guide.

Carry On Baggage Weight Limit
The weight limit for your carry-on baggage is determined by the combined weight of your carry-on bag and personal item.
The specific weight allowance depends on the type of fare you’ve purchased.
For Basic fares, your carry-on weight limit is 22 pounds, while for all other fare types, your carry-on can weigh up to 33 pounds (15 kilograms) in total:

Checked Bag Size Limit
Your checked bag can be up to 62 linear inches (158 centimeters) in size. To determine the size of your bag, measure its outside length, width, and height, then total these measurements together. Be sure to include all protruding wheels, handles, and pockets with your measurements.
If your checked bag is larger than 62 linear inches, you’ll have to pay an oversized baggage fee at the airport.
Aeromexico’s maximum size limit for checked baggage depends on the type of plane you’ll be flying on:
- Narrow body: 80 inches (204 centimeters)
- Wide body: 115 inches (294 centimeters)

There are 2 different baggage weight allowances available to purchase:
- 33 pounds (15 kilograms): available for Basic fare (1st bag only)
- 44 pounds (20 kilograms): not available at the airport
- 55 pounds (25 kilograms)
Please note that passengers traveling on a Basic fare can purchase a 33-pound (15 kilogram) baggage allowance as their first bag only. Additional bags must be either 44 or 55 pounds.
Also, the 44-pound (20 kilograms) weight allowance is not available to buy at the airport. It must be purchased beforehand.

If your checked baggage exceeds the size or weight limits, you’ll need to pay an additional fee. These fees can only be paid at the airport and cannot be prepaid.

If your checked bag is larger than 62 linear inches, you’ll have to pay an oversized baggage fee.
The maximum size limit for checked baggage depends on the type of aircraft you’re flying on:
- Narrow body: 80 inches (204 centimeters)

Domestic Flights within Mexico
For domestic flights within Mexico, there are two weight ranges for overweight baggage:
- 44 to 70 pounds (20.1 to 32 kilograms)
- 71 to 99 pounds (32.1 to 45 kilograms)
Aeromexico doesn’t accept checked bagagge that weighs more than 99 pounds.

To buy extra bags for your trip, you have a few options available:
- Accessing your booking on Aeromexico’s website
- Contacting the airline’s customer service department
- Visiting an Aeromexico travel store: 33-pound (15 kg) bags can’t be bought at travel stores located within airports.

How to Add Bags Online
You can buy extra bags online by logging in to your flight booking on Aeromexico’s website:
If you have an existing account or Aeromexico Rewards membership, you can log in using your account details.
Alternatively, you can use your reservation or ticket number (found in your booking confirmation email from Aeromexico) and last name.
Aeromexico Phone App
The airline also has a phone app available, but I found that it would crash frequently. I recommend using Aeromexico’s website only.
Final Thoughts
Aeromexico’s baggage allowances are similar to U.S. legacy airlines like American Airlines, Delta, And United.
All fares include 1 personal item and 1 carry-on bag. For most itineraries, you’re going to have to pay for a checked bag, unless you’re traveling in a premium cabin.
Speaking of paying for baggage, if you can pay for your bags before your flight (48 hours for domestic, 24 hours for international), you can save on fees.
